Invitation Information

Church

First Presbyterian Church
1200 SW Alder Street
Portland, Oregon 97205

There are directions to the church coming from any side of town at the church website listed under 'helpful links'. The parking at the church is $3 for the evening, and the garage is open until 2:30am (ignore what the church website says about parking). If you are coming on the MAX light rail, get off at the 10th street stop and walk up to 12th (and 1 block North if you're coming from the Westside). For anyone flying into PDX, the MAX Red Line train leaves the airport by the baggage claim area, and will take you directly from the airport to the downtown area.

Reception

The Tiffany Center - - - Crystal Room
1410 SW Morrison St # 600
Portland, OR 97205

The Tiffany Center is a short 2 block walk from the church across to the west side of the freeway, and is the brick building located on the south side of Morrison Street.
The formal reception will be immediately following the wedding. Guests are asked to proceed to the Tiffany Center, and take the elevator or stairs up to the 2nd floor Crystal ballroom where the bride and groom will arrive shortly after. Dinner and drinks will be served, followed by a night of dancing and socializing. The reception will end at around 11:30. Please beware if you arrived by the MAX light rail, that the last MAX train leaves downtown around midnight (you can check the schedule by clicking on the Max link, then select the Red Line train).

Hotels - - - Downtown

(click on map to enlarge)
There are a few different choices of hotels downtown that we would recommend to travelers, or anyone not wanting to drive home after the reception. All of the hotels are within walking distance of the MAX train, so you can take the MAX directly from the airport, and the first three are within walking distance of the church and reception. We recently found out that the Portland Marathon is downtown on Sunday the 7th, so reserve early if you want to stay downtown. For the Hotel deLuxe you must call and reference the Chambers/Gregory wedding group to get a room at a reduced rate from their regular rates (rates are based on availability, and you can cancel without penalty with proper notice, so reserve early if you think you want to stay at this hotel). We have a reserved block of rooms at The Governor and Mark Spencer hotels at a set rate if you call and reference the Chambers/Gregory wedding group block. Check the menu column under 'helpful links' for the websites to all of the hotels listed.
The Hotel deLuxe: Steps away from the reception site, this beautiful hotel is recently remodeled, and has a restaurant and bar in the hotel. If arriving from the airport on MAX, get off at the PGE Park stop on 17th, and walk back east to take a right on 15th. For reservations call 1-866-895-2094 or 503-219-2094 and reference the wedding group.
The Governor Hotel: A very nice historic hotel that also has a wonderful restaurant and bar, and a Starbucks within the hotel. It is located one block East of the church, right on the MAX line (Galleria/SW 10th Ave. stop). For reservations call 1-800-554-3456 or 503-224-3400 before 9/5/07, and reference the wedding group.
The Mark Spencer Hotel: This is the cheapest choice of the downtown hotels. It is a basic but clean hotel that has a kitchenette in each room, and includes breakfast in the price of the room. The reserved rooms in the wedding block are available until 9/5/07, but depending on how soon you book, the cheapest rate may be on southwest.com (go to Special Offers, then to Hotel Specials and scroll down to Portland, OR to find the hotel)... so you should check both to find the best rate. To reserve directly with the hotel call 1-800-548-3934 or 503-224-3293, or email hospitality@markspencer.com and reference the wedding group.

Other nice hotels (with reasonable rates for downtown) that are close to the MAX line:
The Embassy Suites: A great hotel near to Saturday Market, that has a made-to-order breakfast included in the room price. It is two blocks west on Ankeny Street from the Skidmore Fountain MAX stop.
The Marriott Hotel: Another nice hotel that is a couple blocks north of the Pioneer Courthouse Square MAX stop, near to shopping and the heart of downtown.

Hotels - - - Eastside

Here are a few hotels that I would recommend if you want to stay on the eastside. Unfortunately, there is a big conference in town on the same weekend, so the availability of hotels on the eastside is very limited. Call the hotels for the best information on availability (links to the hotels are listed).
The Residence Inn by Marriott: This hotel would by good for families since all their rooms are suites that have a kitchenette and a sofa sleeper, and they include a breakfast buffet. The hotel also has free parking, and is close to restaurants and shopping at Lloyd Center Mall. From the MAX stop the hotel is just east of the movie theater.
Red Lion Hotel- Convention Center: This is a decent hotel that has a restaurant and bar within the hotel. It is right off the MAX line at the Convention Center stop, but parking is extra if you are driving.
Courtyard by Marriott: This is a very nice new hotel that has a restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool, and spa. It is two blocks north of the Convention Center MAX stop, and parking is extra.

Portland Sites

If you have some extra time while you are in town, here are some great, easy to reach places to go.
*Powell's Books- This is one of the greatest bookstores ever! It is located on Burnside street, between 10th and 11th.
*Oregon Zoo- Great place to take the kids (or great for adult kids), and can be reached by taking the Max light rail west to the Washington Park stop.
*NW 23rd Ave- There are a ton of fun little shops and great places to eat. Take the Portland Streetcar north on 10th Ave. to 23rd and Lovejoy, then walk south.
*Saturday Market- Open-air market where vendors sell arts and crafts, food, and other interesting finds. Open Saturday and Sunday underneath the Burnside Bridge.
*Waterfront Park- Walk along the river on the Westside riverwalk between the Steel and Hawthorne bridges, or cross over to the Eastside Esplanade riverwalk.

OUR FAMILIES -

Teresa's family at church on Christmas Eve, and Mark's family at home with Jake (the dog)

Groom's parents

Jack and Ginger Gregory have been married for 41 years. Jack spent his career working for Firestone Tire and Rubber, and then forming his own tire company called Seaport Tire. Jack has been retired for the past several years. Ginger stayed home and raised the kids until they reached grade school, and then began a career in the insurance business. Ginger will be retiring from her job as a Claims Adjustment Manager this summer.

Groom's sister

Nikki Gregory is an Occupational Therapist by trade, but her true love has always been horses. She has turned her hobby into a small business that involves the showing, importing, and breeding of Friesian horses.

Bride's parents

Don and Juanita Chambers met in college at Oregon state, and have been married for 44 yrs. Don got out of the Navy in 1964, then spent his career working for Hyster as a mechanical design engineer until retiring in November 2005 with 41 years in the company. Juanita stayed home with the kids until grade school, then went back to school herself to get her Masters degree. She is planning on retiring at the end of this year from Wacker Siltronic where she has worked as an chemical applications engineer for the last 25 years.

Bride's grandmother

Grandma (Margaret) Kearney is the last of the grandparents on either side. She still lives at her home in North Portland where her kids grew up, and the grandkids used to come and swim in the in-ground pool, and now the many great-grandchildren can come to visit. She is active in church and charitable organizations, knits helmet liners for the troops, makes pot scrubbers for diabetes foundation, and occasionally makes cookies for and works the coffee stops at the freeway rest areas. Teresa lived with Grandma Kearney for a while after she sold her house while she was in the Radiography program, and for that help and support she will always be grateful!

Bride's older brother and family

Steve and Heatherle live a mile or two away from Don and Juanita. They are parents to Matti, 15, and Audrey, 5. Steve works as a warehouse manager for Comcast cable company, and Heatherle teaches kindergarten in an inner city neighborhood in Portland. They enjoy camping, riding their tandum bike, home improvement and the local farmer's market. They recently returned from a trip to Walt Disney World, where they pretended they were taking an Italian Honeymoon in EPCOT.

Bride's younger brother and fiance

Matthew is Teresa younger brother by two years. He is finishing his Bachelors degree at Reed College this winter term, then is looking forward to getting his teaching certificate. Kelly Kohlman is Matt's fiance. They met online and Kelly moved here from Amarillo Texas to be with him, and is now working as an assistant manager at a Starbucks. Matt and Kelly are planning on getting married next summer.

THE WEDDING PARTY -

Groomsmen:

(written by Mark)

Brent Relling

Brent and I met in August of 1974 when my family and I moved into our new house just outside of Veneta, Oregon. Although the area was sparcely populated, I was fortunate enough land a 5 acre field away from a boy exactly my age. Brent and I quickly became friends as did our parents. The result was a childhood in which the two of us were raised like brothers with two different sets of parents. Our parents friendship allowed us to take many fishing and whitewater rafting vacations together over the years.

When I returned to Oregon, Brent and I lived together while he worked for his father and I went to the University of Oregon. During this time, Brent met his future wife, Lisa. I was honored to serve as Best Man at Brent and Lisa's wedding.

Andrew Hennen

Andrew and I met in the fall of 1974 when we both set off to Kindergarten together in Veneta, Oregon. We spent our time playing basketball, baseball, football, and soccer together as well as riding motorcycles/ATVs, fishing in Hennen family's ponds, or playing video games at the arcade owned by Andrew's father Jack.

Andrew and I reconnected at the University of Oregon where we explored the college social scene and even squeezed in a few classes at the Business School. Andrew has always been a very loyal and generous friend to me and I feel extremely proud to have him be part of my wedding party.

Craig Graf

I met Craig in the winter of 1983 when our family moved to Ohio. Craig was one of the more popular kids in school, and I was fortunate enough to land in several classes with him. We quickly became friends, even though hanging out with the new kid wasn't necessarily the cool thing to do. I'll always respect and appreciate the fact that Craig made my transition to life in Ohio much easier than it could have been.

Later, Craig and I roomed to together at Kent State University. Although I decided to leave Ohio and return home to Oregon, Craig and I have kept in close contact over the years. The wedding will be Craig's third trip to Oregon to visit me.

JD Campbell

I met JD in the fall of 1999 when I started working at Sun Microsystems and we immediately hit it off. JD and I share a ton of common interests (except his love for the NY Yankees). We both love laughter, sports and music and have spent the last several years playing rec ball together, golfing, attending sporting events, and going to concerts.

I had the privilege of standing up with JD when he and his wife Kristi were married a couple of years ago and I'm truly honored to have him standing with me when Teresa and I say our 'I do's'.

Matti Sjoblom-Chambers

Matti is 15 and will be a Sophomore at Rex Putnam High School, where he is in the Honors House and taking classes to qualify him for an International Baccalaureate diploma. He enjoys BMX bikes, skate boarding, flying RC planes with Steve and Don, car shows and classic rock music. Matti agreed to be in the wedding when Teresa asked him, but understandably because of his age was a little old to be the ring bearer (and was afraid that she was going to make him walk down the isle with a pillow), so I am happy to say that he will stand on my side as a junior groomsman.

Libby Hein

Libby and I have been best friends since the start of 5th grade after I moved to Portland from Illinois. We only lived a couple of blocks away from each other, and practically lived at each others houses. We grew up playing soccer, taking family trips to the beach, camping, skiing, and doing most everything as kids together. Libby moved to Pendleton in the middle of our freshman year at Putnam High, where I also lived for a couple of years in my early 20s. Soon after I moved back, Libby divorced and moved to Spokane where she went to school and got her Masters degree in psychology while raising her two girls (Krystal and Cheyenne). There she met Greg, and I was her maid-of-honor when they were married in August 1999.

Over the many years, and through all the long distance traveling to visit and talking on the phone (Thank God for free long-distance calls on cell phones!!), we have remained the very best of friends. Libby will always be the sister I never had, and her daughters are like my own children. Since I was a teenager, I've always known that on my wedding day Libby would be standing beside me as my maid-of-honor, and I'm thrilled that the day has finally come.

Terri Woolcott

I met Terri when I went to work at the Freightliner truck plant when I was 26. We worked together on the rough-cab line, and soon became best friends before we were both layed-off in 2000. I owned a house in SE Portland near to Terri's, so we were able to spend a lot of time together and ride bikes, rollerblade, take walks, or just hang-out after work. In February 1999, I was her bridesmaid when she married Greg, and have enjoyed spending time with both of them and being an "auntie" to their boys Bryan and Matthew.

Terri has been a great friend to me through all the ups and downs in my life since we've known each other. I know that she is a friend who will always tell it to me straight, and will always have my best interests at heart. I'm happy that she will be a bridesmaid in my wedding, since I know that she wants this for me almost as much as I do.

Andrea Chasse

I met Andrea in my Radiography program at PCC, where we sat next to each other in class and shared the same clinical site at Emanuel Hospital. Andrea was the one who kept me organized and on time for all my assignments, and was my study partner/co-conspirator who helped to keep me sane through all the stress from tests and work. We developed a strong bond during the two years we spent together, and have remained friends since we graduated in 2005 when I stayed on to work at Emanuel, while Andrea went to work at Vancouver Radiologists clinic near to her home in Camas.

We both share a love for home projects, and Andrea is currently very busy taking part in the building of her new home in Washougal with her fiance Paul, and taking care of her sick mother. I'm thankful that she agreed to be a part of my big day, and take time out of her busy life to support me and cheer me on.

Krystal

Krystal is Libby's oldest daughter, who I have obviously known since before birth. We have enjoyed annual beach trips together sponsored by Grandma Schneider since she was almost 3, as well as many holidays in Portland or visits to Spokane. She has become an avid soccer player, and plays with an elite team that gets to travel for regional games (giving me a chance to meet them for soccer weekends in Tri-cities or south Seattle), as well as playing some volleyball and running in track. Krystal is sixteen now, so she is driving and working at a daycare to save money for a car. She will be a Junior in high school next year and will be 17 by the time of the wedding (gasp!)

Krystal has always been a great kid, and has grown up to be a very mature, responsible young woman who is beautiful, smart and athletic. I'm very proud of her, and proud to have her be a bridesmaid for me.

Cheyenne

Cheyenne is Libby's younger daughter, who I have enjoyed watching grow up. Besides the beach trips and visits back and forth, we've also been able to spend many hours on the sidelines of soccer games together hanging out. From an early age Cheyenne has been very talented artistically in drawing, painting, and sculpture. She took up ballet and modern dance classes and has enjoyed performing recitals, and she runs in track. Cheyenne is great student who will be going into the 8th grade next year, and will be 14 in September.

Cheyenne has a great personality that I love, and is becoming a beautiful, talented young woman. I'm happy that I'll always be her "Auntie CC", and that she will be a junior bridesmaid for my wedding.

Flowergirl

Audrey is 5 and will be in kindergarten this year. She loves art, Disney World, camping at the beach, and the backyard kiddy pool. She is devoted to her little stuffed horse Nay, a gift from Teresa when she was a year old. She is excited to be the flowergirl, and can't wait to walk down the aisle with Nay.

Audrey this summer at Disney World (she really loved the characters and had to get pictures with all of them and their autographs for her scrapbook)

*Mark and I decided that we wanted to take a big trip for our honeymoon since we plan on having children soon, and won't be able to get away again for a while. We chose Italy as the place we wanted to go, and will be spending two and a half weeks there immediately following the wedding.
*Save this website if you would like to see pictures from the wedding. After we get back from our honeymoon, we will use this site to direct people to where they can view candid and professional pictures taken at the wedding.
