There are a few different choices of hotels downtown that we would recommend to travelers, or anyone not wanting to drive home after the reception. All of the hotels are within walking distance of the MAX train, so you can take the MAX directly from the airport, and the first three are within walking distance of the church and reception. We recently found out that the Portland Marathon is downtown on Sunday the 7th, so reserve early if you want to stay downtown. For the Hotel deLuxe you must call and reference the Chambers/Gregory wedding group to get a room at a reduced rate from their regular rates (rates are based on availability, and you can cancel without penalty with proper notice, so reserve early if you think you want to stay at this hotel). We have a reserved block of rooms at The Governor and Mark Spencer hotels at a set rate if you call and reference the Chambers/Gregory wedding group block. The Hotel deLuxe: Steps away from the reception site, this beautiful hotel is recently remodeled, and has a restaurant and bar in the hotel. If arriving from the airport on MAX, get off at the PGE Park stop on 17th, and walk back east to take a right on 15th. For reservations call 1-866-895-2094 or 503-219-2094 and reference the wedding group.
The Governor Hotel: A very nice historic hotel that also has a wonderful restaurant and bar, and a Starbucks within the hotel. It is located one block East of the church, right on the MAX line (Galleria/SW 10th Ave. stop). For reservations call 1-800-554-3456 or 503-224-3400 before 9/5/07, and reference the wedding group.
The Mark Spencer Hotel: This is the cheapest choice of the downtown hotels. It is a basic but clean hotel that has a kitchenette in each room, and includes breakfast in the price of the room. The reserved rooms in the wedding block are available until 9/5/07, but depending on how soon you book, the cheapest rate may be on southwest.com (go to Special Offers, then to Hotel Specials and scroll down to Portland, OR to find the hotel)... so you should check both to find the best rate. The Embassy Suites: A great hotel near to Saturday Market, that has a made-to-order breakfast included in the room price. It is two blocks west on Ankeny Street from the Skidmore Fountain MAX stop.
The Marriott Hotel: Another nice hotel that is a couple blocks north of the Pioneer Courthouse Square MAX stop, near to shopping and the heart of downtown.
