Libby and I have been best friends since the start of 5th grade after I moved to Portland from Illinois. We only lived a couple of blocks away from each other, and practically lived at each others houses. We grew up playing soccer, taking family trips to the beach, camping, skiing, and doing most everything as kids together. Libby moved to Pendleton in the middle of our freshman year at Putnam High, where I also lived for a couple of years in my early 20s. Soon after I moved back, Libby divorced and moved to Spokane where she went to school and got her Masters degree in psychology while raising her two girls (Krystal and Cheyenne). There she met Greg, and I was her maid-of-honor when they were married in August 1999.
Over the many years, and through all the long distance traveling to visit and talking on the phone (Thank God for free long-distance calls on cell phones!!), we have remained the very best of friends. Libby will always be the sister I never had, and her daughters are like my own children. Since I was a teenager, I've always known that on my wedding day Libby would be standing beside me as my maid-of-honor, and I'm thrilled that the day has finally come.
